INDIANAPOLIS – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday, recognizing the top student-athletes from the week of March 6 through March 12. In order to be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution's Sports Information Director.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jon Young, Indiana Wesleyan (View Nomination)
Young tossed a complete game and earned the win during Indiana Wesleyan's 4-3 upset victory at No. 15 Lindsey Wilson. Young fanned six batters and allowed only four hits and four walks.
Baseball Player of the Week
Heath Brooksher, Bethel (View Nomination)
Brooksher was 10-15 at the plate with four triples in Bethel's four lopsided victories, hitting .667 with six runs, 11 runs batted in and two stolen bases.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Erin Lawhon, Grace (View Nomination)
Lawhon fired a three-hit shutout to help Grace score a 6-0 win over No. 2 Saint Xavier and finished the week with a 3-0 mark and a 2.07 earned-run average in the circle for the Lancers.
Softball Player of the Week
Kaisey Carson, Indiana Wesleyan (View Nomination)
Carson continued her torrid season for RV Indiana Wesleyan, batting .471 with four home runs, 10 runs scored and 13 runs batted in to help IWU post a 4-1 record on the week.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Ian Deiters, Marian (View Nomination)
Deiters picked up three wins at No. 4 singles and one victory at No. 2 doubles for Marian over four spring matches.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Monika Wynne, Spring Arbor (View Nomination)
Wynne helped Spring Arbor to wins over Baldwin-Wallace, Point and Mount Union, going 6-2 in four matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles for the Cougars.
