Moore Shines with Program Record 17 Assists in Big Win for IWU

MARION, Ind. – History was made at Luckey Arena on Wednesday night as No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball put on an offensive clinic in a 103-65 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The evening was headlined by point guard DJ Moore, who etched his name into the program record books by dishing out a staggering 17 assists. As a unit, the Wildcats were nearly unstoppable, connecting on a season-high 61.5% of their shots from the floor. This marks the fifth time this season that Indiana Wesleyan has eclipsed the 100-point plateau.

FIRST HALF

  • The Wildcats started strong with an back-to-back buckets inside by Caedmon Bontrager, setting an early tone.
  • A 3-pointer from Jake Smith, assisted by DJ Moore, helped extend Indiana Wesleyan's lead to 7–4.
  • The red and grey's defense forced eight turnovers and scored 10 points off them.
  • IWU went on two major runs of 17-4 and 16-4 in the half to over 20 points.
  • A jumper by Crew Gibson at 0:14 closed the half, with Indiana Wesleyan leading 47–23.


SECOND HALF

  • IWU extended their lead early in the half, with DJ Moore contributing a 3-pointer and a layup, making it 52-23.
  • The Cougars responded with a 5-point sequence, including a layup and free throw by Kieran Granville, narrowing the gap to 52-26.
  • Indiana Wesleyan maintained momentum, sparked by consistent shooting from beyond the arc, including a 3-pointer by Crew Gibson with 10:40 remaining, pushing the score to 71-40.
  • The Wildcats closed strongly, highlighted by a dunk from Kevin Sacas, securing a decisive 103-65 victory.
