Taylor Dominates at Stonehenge for Third-Straight Title
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Taylor men's golf program flexed its muscles on Monday and Tuesday at the Battle at Stonehenge, winning the nine-team field and having its 'B' lineup take second place in the team standings.
TU cruised to its third tournament title in as many outings this fall, posting scores of 290 and 293 to finish at 583 and 17 shots in front of third-place Grace. Taylor's 'B' lineup posted scores of 300 and 296 to take second, four shots ahead of the host Grace squad.
It was a wave of Purple and Gray on the individual leaderboard as well, as Taylor placed nine of its 10 competitors among the top-20 at the event. That group included Will Schuitema, Jackson Umthum, Porter Dick and Kyle Kasitz taking second-through-fifth to lead the charge, with Austin Craig ending seventh and Davis Formsma ending in 10th.
Schuitema backed his record-setting individual performance from Blackthorn by carding rounds of 74 and 70 to finish at two-over for the event and in second place. Umthum shined in his collegiate debut, posting scores of 71 and 73 to match Schuitema, while Porter Dick fired a 71 on Monday to bolster a fourth-place finish and Kasitz used a 71 on Tuesday to climb into the top-five.
Taylor improved to 23-0 with its third tournament crown of the fall and will take aim at a fourth-straight title when it hosts the Egypt Valley Intercollegiate in Ada, Michigan on October 6 and 7.
