NAIA Honors Halterman as Women’s Runner-of-the-Week
KANSAS CITY – Jaynie Halterman continued to bring in national recognition, being named the NAIA Women's Runner-of-the-Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Halterman, the reigning NAIA National Champion, finished first in the opening meet of the year at the IWU Twilight Invitational. The Thompson's Station, Tennessee native outpaced the field of 202 runners, crossing the finish line in 20:41.2, which was over a minute faster than second place.
The stupendous sophomore led Taylor to a team title in a competitive 18-team field and has earned the national honor three times as she begins her second year of collegiate competition.
Halterman and the Trojans continue competition at the Florida State Cross Country Open on Saturday, September 27, with a start time yet to be announced.
