Poynter Named NAIA Player of the Week
WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Maddy Poynter continues to earn national recognition after being named the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
The award comes after Poynter helped the Lancers to a historic 172 point outburst against Ohio Christian. The junior guard averaged 34 points across two wins for the Lancers and also dished out 7.5 assists per game.
Poynter is one of the two Lancers averaging more than 20 points per game and is currently fifth in the NAIA league with 25.7 points per game.
Grace is first in scoring in the NAIA (11.47 ppg), averaging 11.2 more points per game than the next closest team.
Poynter becomes the first Lancer player since Peyton Murphy to be named the NAIA Player of the Week.
The Lancers will be back in action on Wednesday as they open Crossroads League play against Taylor.
